Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on November 10 took a swipe at the state Congress leadership, remarking that the party’s activities resemble “child’s play” rather than serious politics.
His comments came while responding to a question from journalists during the ceremonial launch of a welfare scheme to provide subsidised masoor dal, sugar, and salt to NFSA beneficiaries.
When asked about the Congress’s claim that new supporters have been joining the party on the 10th of every month, Sarma dismissed it as a hollow exercise lacking substance.
“This is not joining. If someone joins a party, there must be a leader’s name attached to it. The Congress president here does not understand politics — this is mere child’s play,” he said, drawing laughter from the audience.
