BBC Chairperson Samir Shah on Monday said that the editing of the Trump documentary in 2024 was an "error of judgment," following the resignations of the network's Director General Tim Davie and the Chief Executive of News, Deborah Turness, on Sunday.
"The conclusion of that deliberation is that we accept that the way the speech was edited did give the impression of a direct call for violent action. The BBC would like to apologise for that error of judgement," he said.
Shah made these remarks in a written statement to the Culture, Media and Sport Committee - a UK parliamentary group responsible for overseeing the work of the Department for Culture, Media and Sport and its associated public bodies, including the BBC.
