A busy Edinburgh road was the centre of a significant police response on Sunday evening in an 'emergency incident'.

Around 7.30pm on November 9, police rushed to Colinton Mains Drive with multiple units deployed. The exact nature of the incident is currently unclear but locals were warned to stay clear.

It's understood emergency services were at the scene for some time but the road was not closed. Pictures taken at the time show blue lights in the distance with some traffic brought to a halt.

Officers were also spotted with police dogs and torches.

One passer-by, who was visiting a relative, claims she was told to go back inside and "move away" from the area.
