A Lanarkshire hotel manager fled the building and a terrified employee locked herself in an office as an angry diner caused chaos while armed with a knife.
John McGartland, who was under the influence of alcohol, had earlier complained about service and verbally abused staff.
Fortunately, no one was injured during the "period of absolute madness" at the four-star Glasgow Westerwood in Cumbernauld .
McGartland, 54, of George Road in Gourock, admitted threatening or abusive behaviour at the spa and golf resort on September 7.
Airdrie Sheriff Court heard he and seven friends had met up for dinner there that evening.
