Ollie Watkins will go to the World Cup finals with England - despite being left out of Thomas Tuchel's most recent squad.

That's according to pundit Danny Murphy, who has backed the 29-year-old to regain his place ahead of the showpiece in North America next summer.

Tuchel raised eyebrows last week when he named just one striker in the squad to participate in the dead rubber qualifiers, with Harry Kane the only centre forward selected to face Serbia and Albania.

Waktins had been involved in both squads so far this season and has scored six goals in 20 appearances for his country, numbers he won't be adding to over the next fortnight.

Speaking on Match of the Day , former Liverpool midfielder Murphy tipped the Aston Villa man for a recall.
