MACON, Ga. — A Macon man accused of shooting wife during an argument back in 2023 has plead guilty to lesser charges and avoided any additional time behind bars, according to court records.

Eddie Gene Williams was sentenced last Tuesday to simple assault and reckless conduct, lesser charges of aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

The shooting happened on March 19, 2023 in the 2700 block of Alandale Drive.

According to previous reporting, Williams was accused of shooting his wife, who was 75-years-old at the time. The Bibb County Sheriff's Office says that she was taken to the hospital in critical condition, but she did not die from her injuries.
