PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- The season of giving has arrived, and Comcast is asking community members to step up ahead of the holidays.

The company is partnering with the non-profit Sheltering Silverton, asking neighbors to donate warm winter gear and new toys for local families in need.

Comcast is accepting donations at several Xfinity retail locations across the Portland metro area and Salem.

Rebecca Brown with Comcast and Sarah White, the founder and executive director of Sheltering Silverton, joined us on AM Extra to tell us about their efforts to spread holiday cheer.
