On Monday at 11:59 a.m. the National Weather Service issued a lake effect snow warning valid from 1 p.m. until Tuesday 1 p.m. for Mercer and Venango counties.
"Heavy lake effect snow expected. Total snow accumulations between 2 and 4 inches with localized totals of up to 10 inches in persistent snow bands," states the weather service. "A narrow band or bands of snow will pivot across the county resulting in highly localized snowfall totals of up to 10 inches possible where the banding sits for the longest period of time. 1 to 2 inch per hour rates are possible within heavy banding."
