For the first six months it was in business, London’s 1StopLaundry had one single customer – now they operate in 13 cities across the country.
1StopLaundry is a pick-up and delivery laundry service that partners with local laundromats to assist people with their laundry. Because they don’t need to open their own facilities, it’s allowed the delivery service to expand quickly into different markets.
Co-founder and chief operating officer Mona Aboushamalah came up with the idea three years ago, presenting it to her family, who initially didn’t think much of it.
“No one really cared about the 100th idea that I had at that point. But a few days later, my brother came up to me and said, ‘I had a dream that 1StopLaundry was a big thing across Canada, so I’m all in,’” Aboushamalah said.
