AMES, Iowa —
The Cyclones didn't move in the latest rankings after a 2-0 start to the 2025-26 season.
The Iowa State men's basketball team came in at No. 16 in Monday's poll, the first released since the start of the regular season. ISU was also No. 16 in the preseason poll released last month.
Iowa State beat Fairleigh Dickinson by 38 in last week's season opener, then followed that up with a 40-point win over Grambling State on Thursday. Joshua Jefferson, Tamin Lipsey and Milan Momcilovic all scored in double-figures in both games. Lipsey has added 11 assists and 10 steals to only one turnover.
Iowa State faces a step up in competition soon, however. ISU takes on Mississippi State in Sioux Falls, South Dakota Monday night. Mississippi State is unranked but receiving votes.
