A car explosion in Delhi killed at least 10 people near a metro station at the landmark Red Fort monument on Monday.
More than 30 others were “badly injured,” Dr. Manish Kumar Jha, a physician at the local Lok Nayak Hospital, said, per CNN .
“Many are not in a position of recovering,” he added.
It was a rare attack in the heavily guarded capital city of more than 30 million people.
Thousands of tourists daily visit the 17th-century Red Fort, which stands mere metres from a busy trading hub.
Delhi’s police commissioner says the blast occurred at 6:42 p.m. local time (5:42 a.m. ET), when a “slow-moving” vehicle “came to a stop” near a red light before it exploded.
