NEW YORK (PIX11) – Tuesday is a federal holiday, which will mean a day off for many New Yorkers.
Veterans Day has been observed every year on November 11 since 1954. Before that, it was celebrated as Armistice Day.
It’ll mean no school for New York City students and a break for many workers. Alternate side parking rules will be lifted, but drivers will still need to feed parking meters.
If you're looking to celebrate, a parade will march through Manhattan on Veterans Day, prompting many street closures.
Here’s what’s open and closed on the holiday.
What’s closed on Veterans Day in New York City: • NYC Public Schools • Major banks • USPS • Government offices: DMV, courts, Social Security offices • New York, Brooklyn, Queens Public Library
What’s open on Veterans Day: • UPS
