NEW YORK (PIX11) – Tuesday is a federal holiday, which will mean a day off for many New Yorkers.

Veterans Day has been observed every year on November 11 since 1954. Before that, it was celebrated as Armistice Day.

It’ll mean no school for New York City students and a break for many workers. Alternate side parking rules will be lifted, but drivers will still need to feed parking meters.
