TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) - Representative-elect Adelita Grijalva is heading to the nation's capital to be sworn in.
House Speaker Mike Johnson plans to swear her in once the government reopens. This could happen as soon as Wednesday.
Reports indicate that Johnson will conduct the ceremony before a crucial funding vote. The Senate is expected to vote on reopening the government as early as today. If it passes, the decision will move to the House.
"I am planning to travel to Washington, D.C. after hearing through Leader Jeffries and media reports that Speaker Johnson finally intends to swear me in," Grijalva said in a statement.
