Will Parker, who has been general counsel for Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey for six years, is the newest member of the Alabama Supreme Court.

Ivey announced Monday that she chose Parker to replace Bill Lewis, who was nominated by President Trump for a federal judgeship.

The Senate confirmed the Lewis nomination in October and he is now a U.S. district judge for the Middle District of Alabama.

Parker joined the governor’s staff in June 2017, shortly after she replaced Robert Bentley as governor. Parker became general counsel in December 2019.

Parker takes over the six-year term initially won by Jay Mitchell in 2024. Ivey had appointed Lewis to replace Mitchell when Mitchell resigned from the court to run for attorney general.
