Melvindale police pulled over a speeding vehicle during the weekend – and ended up delivering a baby.

About 1:45 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 8, an officer pulled over a vehicle on Oakwood Boulevard near Allen Road, according to a news release from the Melvindale Police Department.

They then discovered the passenger was in labor and having a baby.

Two officers positioned their vehicles and bodies to block the sight from passersby, police said.

It was a senior officer who’d responded, Cpl. Mohamed Hacham, who realized the laboring woman couldn’t wait for the fire rescue team.

Hacham is also a former partner of late Cpl. Mohamed Said, who was fatally shot last summer while conducting a stop. More: Cash assistance program for pregnant and new moms in 6 Wayne County communities, now open Mor
