PADUCAH, Ky. (WSIL) -- A Paducah police vehicle was hit by gunfire during a vehicle pursuit involving the McCracken County Sheriff's Department on Friday evening.
The Paducah Police Department said the incident happened as police tried to stop a fleeing vehicle near the city limits on Lone Oak Road. Authorities said Sgt. Dylan Cook, with the Paducah Police Department, tried to deploy stop sticks by parking his marked police vehicle with emergency lights on at the entrance to the former K-mart building parking lot.
Police said Robert Wray, the suspected driver, is believed to have fired a handgun in the direction of the police car as he passed by. Police described the incident and said a bullet hit the rear passenger window just a few feet from where Sgt. Cook stood, but he was not injure
