TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WIAT) -- Alabama's Labaron Philon Jr. was named SEC Player of the Week on Monday after helping the Crimson Tide to a 2-0 start.

The Crimson Tide opened the season at home with a 91-62 win over North Dakota. Alabama followed up that win with a 103-96 victory on the road against then-No. 5 St. John's on Saturday. Philon is averaging 23.5 points, 5.5 assists and three rebounds to start the season.

He ranks third in the SEC in scoring and fourth in assists. No. 8 Alabama hosts No. 2 Purdue at 6 p.m. on ESPN2.
