COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - No decision was immediately made in a request to reduce the bond for a man charged with a hate crime in Richland County.

A hearing was held Monday for Jonathan Felkel, the suspect accused of firing a gun at his Black neighbor, Jarvis McKenzie, in July.

According to the Richland County Sheriff’s Department, Felkel was inside a vehicle parked in front of a gated area on Brooksprings Road before he allegedly fired a shot and said “keep running, boy.”

The incident was captured on security video that was later made public by RCSD.

Authorities later said an investigation found the incident to be racially motivated, reportedly by Felkel’s own admission.
