Santa Maria Police arrested two men in the Santa Maria riverbed in connection with possession of narcotics on Oct. 4, according to the department.
At approximately 8:30 a.m., SMPD officers responded to the Santa Maria riverbed following a tip regarding possible drug sales occurring in the area.
Officers contacted two individuals, identified as Heather Carberry, 40, and Samuel Prevatt, 58, both residents of Santa Maria, who were living in the riverbed at the time.
During a search of the area, officers reportedly located over half a pound of methamphetamine, an additional 2.8 ounces of fentanyl, other narcotics, and ammunition for a .22-caliber firearm.
No firearm was located; however, the possession of the ammunition was determined to be a violation of law.
