ALTAVISTA, Va. (WDBJ) - One year ago today, a pile of smoldering rubble sat where a large barn once stood at the National Center for Healthy Veterans in Altavista.

The timing couldn’t have been worse - a day before a large Veterans Day celebration was set to take place.

Now, a year later, the center gearing up once again its Veterans Day ceremony.

The event is 5 p.m. at Valor Farms on Tuesday November 11.

“We’re just evidence that good things happen if you put one foot in front of the other and trust in the lord,” said Robert Dees, President of the NCHV.

One year after flames tore through the heart of Valor farms, the place built to heal veterans is standing stronger than before.
