RADFORD, Va. (WDBJ) - A Veterans of Foreign Wars Post in Radford that was left devastated by a break-in earlier this year is working to recover thanks to the contributions of several community partners.
Leaders at VFW Post 776 said they don’t keep any money in the building, so instead, a thief stole a few items and destroyed over $4,000 worth of property.
Commander Nathan VanHoy said it happened around Labor Day. He went to the VFW Post on September 2, not realizing anything was wrong.
“When I came in, I thought that our adjutant or somebody was in here because the bathroom light was on and some lights were on and there was some chips and a Dr. Pepper sitting out,” remembered VanHoy.
