WASHINGTON, D.C. — In a late Sunday night vote, eight Senate Democrats broke ranks with their party leadership to support a House-passed continuing resolution , moving Congress closer to ending the ongoing federal government shutdown.

The measure, which passed the Senate 60–40 , met the exact threshold needed for approval. It funds military construction, the Department of Agriculture, and the legislative branch through September 30, 2026 , while keeping the rest of the government running through January 30 .

The eight Democrats who crossed the aisle to ensure passage were:
