ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM) — Elmira attorney Daniel J. Cain is preparing to take on his new role as the city’s next court judge after winning a three-way race in the Nov. 4 general election.
According to the City Court's election results, Cain received 1,433 votes, defeating Republican Jordan J. Yorke with 979 votes and Elmira First candidate Robert Siglin with 113 votes.
Cain will begin his 10-year term on January 1, 2026, succeeding Judge Steven Forrest, who plans to retire at the end of 2025.
Cain, a Chemung County native, has nearly 20 years of legal experience. Throughout his career, he's worked in private practice with Elmira law firms, served as a principal court attorney in Chemung County Court, and worked part-time as an assistant corporation counsel for the City of Elmira.
