GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - Every year, the Nebraska Department of Transportation Highway Safety Office gives $1,200 per unit of radars with a limit of 2 units per agency. This year, the Grand Island Police Department received the radar grant to help reduce speeding.
The Nebraska Department of Transportation Highway Safety Office gave GIPD a $2,400 mini-grant to assist in the purchase of two new radars.
“It’s a great tool and we are happy to work well with the NDOT and the state of Nebraska to help not just us but law enforcement across the state,” said GIPD Chief Dean Elliott.
The new Stalker DSR radar units will be used by patrol officers to address the speeding concerns identified along key roadways throughout the city.
