KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - 17 dogs had a last minute change of plans and ended up in Knoxville on Monday in the middle of their journey to New York.
The dogs were originally scheduled to be flown from Louisiana, but weather caused the flight to be canceled.
“They called us. We agreed we would go down, pick up the 17, and get them up here to a flight out of McGhee Tyson this morning,” said Rescue Pet Riders Transport treasurer Kathryn Buer.
While that flight ended up getting canceled, Rescue Pet Riders didn’t let that stop them. On Monday, they handed the pets off to Pilots To The Rescue, where they will finish their road trip to their new owners in New York.
Rescue Pet Riders Transport has been doing this kind of work for a decade and have made a difference in thousands of lives.
