As the Eastern Ontario Health Unit (EOHU) turns 90 years old this year, it has set out its new priorities in its first post-pandemic strategic plan.
The health unit is framing this strategic update as a reset, following some of the most challenging and tumultuous years in public health in recent memory.
Following the COVID-19 pandemic, which Dr. Paul Roumeliotis expressed really only ended last year, Eastern Ontario has a new set of challenges in terms of public health. Vaccination rates have gone down, while mental health and addiction struggles continue to be challenges faced by a growing segment of the population.
“We thought that this would be a good time to have a reset of our priorities ,” said Roumeliotis.
