SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - The back and forth of SNAP funding is creating uncertainty in the Ozarks, as people facing hunger are still left in limbo.
Local food banks and grocery stores are continuing their efforts to supply as much food as they can.
At the HyVee on East Sunshine, they've been handing out $3 meals for families.
"I'm a widow, so for me, I take care of a lot of children," said Desirae Thunderhawk, a Springfield mother getting meals at HyVee. "I have three babies, so it takes a lot of stress and household chores off of me."
HyVee isn't the only place in Springfield that's trying to help those facing food insecurity due to the shutdown.
