A Paterson man was arrested after police said he stole a landscaping truck and burglarized multiple vehicles in Wayne earlier this month.
Officers found a vehicle stolen out of Totowa Borough on Boonstra Drive during the early morning hours of Nov. 3, according to Capt. Daniel Daly. Detectives Ray Caronia and Nick Henriquez canvassed the neighborhood for surveillance footage, which showed a suspect breaking into vehicles in the area.
The footage was shared with nearby law enforcement agencies, and the suspect was soon recognized by members of the Paterson Police Department, authorities said.
Later that morning, detectives learned that a landscaping truck had also been stolen from the same area. Wayne police alerted surrounding agencies, and the Paterson Police Street Crimes Unit located the stolen vehicle and took the suspect into custody, officials said.
The suspect, identified as Moises Echevarria, 44, of Paterson, was found to have active warrants and was transported to the Morris County Jail, Daly.
Echevarria was charged with receiving stolen property, theft of a motor vehicle, burglary to a motor vehicle, two counts of theft, and two counts of attempted burglary to a motor vehicle, authorities said.
