SPENCER, Iowa (KTIV) - The City of Spencer has allocated $750,000 toward a splash pad at the Riverview Complex, but the community must raise the remaining $500,000 for the $1.2 million project.

The splash pad will be located next to the Spencer Aquatic Center and feature an 1,800-square-foot kids’ zone with interactive water features and a separate 1,000-square-foot toddler area, along with shaded family seating.

“The biggest advantage to the splash pad is that it gives you extended seasons compared to what you have with the aquatic center. You don’t have the need for lifeguards on them; they are a self-service facility that people can utilize. And it is appealing to all ages of kids, and all abilities of people to utilize it,” said Bob Fullhart, Spencer Park & Recreation Director.
