SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - Monday night, city leaders approved the potential sale of the Headid Little League baseball field complex to Knife River.
According to city documents, a key component of the expansion is the construction of a new rail spur and rail yard that will allow Knife River to bring aggregate in bulk to the site.
Knife River, which provides construction materials and contracting services, would buy land in the area, including the baseball complex, for $700,000.
As a part of the agreement the company would also contribute either $500,000 cash, or $750,000 to go toward the construction of new replacement ball fields. Headid would remain in operation at its current location through the end of the 2027 baseball season.
