CHAFFEE COUNTY, Colo. (KKTV) - A man is facing several charges after allegedly leading deputies on a short pursuit and assaulting officers while resisting arrest.
The Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) said a deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling north on Highway 291 north of Salida around 11:40 p.m. on November 7 for erratic driving and minor equipment violations.
According to the sheriff’s office, the suspect, 37-year-old Sanford Gardner, refused to stop and led the deputy on a short pursuit to a home on Happy Jack Lane in Chaffee County.
Once the vehicle stopped, deputies said the suspect tried to run away from the deputy and an additional responding Salida Police Officer. Law enforcement was reportedly to detain him before he could enter the home.
