In 1935, the leaders of the Nazi Party in Germany began crafting what came to be known as the Nuremberg Laws. This set of laws formed the basis for the persecution of Jews living in Germany and, later, German-occupied countries.

What you might not know is that those laws were based, in part, on Jim Crow laws from the United States. In the first half of the 20 th century, our nation was the best example the Nazis could find of how to legally discriminate against a group of people. That should cause us all to shudder in horror.
