FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - Emotions ran high at Monday night’s Northwest Allen County Schools board meeting following last week’s failed referendum vote.

The vote failed after 53.9% voted against the measure. As a result, the district will not be increasing teacher wages, opening their planned tech center or adding additional resource officers.

“Even in difficult moments our schools continue to excel,” NACS Superintendent Wayne Barker said.

“In the last few weeks, this thing turned very negative. There were just absolute blatant misrepresentations of facts that people were sharing online.
