MOORHEAD — Just 20 years ago in the Red River Valley, if you wanted “ethnic food,” your choices were spicy gravy at Mexican Village or cream cheese wontons at Phil Wong’s.
There were no Indian samosas and chai. No Pad Thai. No Jollof rice.
Today, there are dozens of local restaurants and food trucks, all representing culinary artistry from around the globe. And on Saturday at the Hjemkomst Center, local chefs representing India, Asia, Europe, Africa, Indigenous America and more will celebrate the spices, colors and creativity of the diverse world of food around us.
Pangea, the annual community festival celebrating the region’s cultures, runs Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Historical and Cultural Society of Clay County at the Hjemkomst Center.
