NEWPORT, N.C. (WITN) - A family is getting assistance after fire tore through their Newport home this morning.

Carteret County officials say the call came in around 12:30 a.m. at 272 Roberts Road.

The Newport Fire Department worked with the Morehead City, Broad Creek, and Mill Creek Fire Departments, the Newport Police Department, Carteret County Emergency Services, and the Carteret County Sheriff’s Office to put out the blaze.

Officials say no one was injured in the fire.

The Salvation Army and Red Cross were called in to assist the affected family.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
