Sydney Sweeney’s Christy opened this weekend with one of the worst box office showings of all time. The film debuted with $1.3 million, or $648 per theater, making it one of the ten lowest openings ever for a movie released in 2,000 theaters or more.

It’s a rough result on top of an increasingly bad few months for Sydney Sweeney’s public image. There was the American Eagle ad fiasco , the poor performance of two other 2025 releases, Americana and Eden , her apparent cozy relationship with Jeff Bezos , and her new relationship with producer/villain Scooter Braun .
