HARLEM, Manhattan (WABC) -- A man has been charged with murder in connection to the deadly stabbing of a woman inside an Upper Manhattan apartment.
Luis Marquez, 41, was charged with murder on Tuesday, hours after police identified the victim as 47-year-old Carmen Lopez.
She was attacked around 4:30 a.m. Monday inside her apartment building on West 129th Street in Manhattan.
Police say the suspect was caught on surveillance camera waiting for Lopez in the third-floor hallway of her building.
When she arrived, the suspect stabbed her multiple times all over her body.
She was rushed to Mount Sinai Morningside in critical condition, where she was pronounced dead.
Police say Marquez is the on again, off again ex-boyfriend of Lopez.
