TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) - Hundreds of veterans were honored Tuesday morning as Leon County Government and the American Legion hosted the 13th annual Operation Thank You community breakfast.

The event celebrated the men and women who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces, offering a free breakfast to nearly 500 veterans and their families. Volunteers came together to cook and serve the meal as a show of gratitude for their service.

This year, organizers prepared more food than usual, knowing many local veterans rely on SNAP benefits and could use a little extra support right now.

“We know there’s a lot going on right now, so we work to make sure Veterans have the support they need,” said Abigail Thomas, director of the Leon County Office of Human Services.
