Since 2009, volunteers at Coffey County Health System and area donors have been donating care packages to military members serving overseas. In addition to the military members, they’ve also been sending packages to some of man’s best friends - dogs serving in military roles.

Linda Booth, Project Chair and Coordinator, has directed both projects since the beginning. Coffey County Health sent items to soldiers for soldiers without access to a commissary or basic necessities. From 2009 to 2020, the Support the Troops project sent over 1,300 care packages to troops overseas.

Booth eventually stumbled upon a soldier with a dog, and decided to send some items for the animal and its handler.
