MACON, Ga. — Mercer University says that a bomb threat was called into the university's admissions building in Macon Tuesday afternoon, which turned out to be false, according to a Mercer spokesperson and the Bibb County Sheriff's Office.
The sheriff's office says that the call came in at around 12:42 p.m.
The university issued a shelter-in-place order after the call was phoned in, Mercer spokesperson Jennifer Fairfield-Williams confirmed.
They say that Bibb County Sheriff's deputies and the Macon-Bibb Fire Department are on the scene.
The Bibb County Sheriff's Office says that the university received a bomb threat targeting the campus. The sheriff's office responded to the scene to assist the university's campus police.
