GAYLORD — A hometown chef is returning to his roots with a new seasonal menu at Michaywé Inn the Woods.
Per a Nov. 1 news release3, Chef Phil Gorny, born and raised in Gaylord, has launched a new menu that highlights seasonal Michigan ingredients and puts a modern twist on classic dishes. The menu debuts Dec. 2 with dinner service open to the public.
Gorny began his culinary career at local establishments, including Bennethums and the Otsego Club, before moving to the Detroit area, where he worked at restaurants such as Pumachug and Churchills Cigar Bar and Bistro.
After experiencing personal challenges, including the loss of his leg due to an injury, Gorny made the decision to return to Gaylord. He said the new menu reflects his renewed passion for food and community.
