MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — A Morgantown man accused in a Pennsylvania hit-and-run case died over the weekend at his home a day before he was to appear for a preliminary hearing.
Court documents confirm the death of Stephen Anthony Lemro. A cause of death was not released.
The 74-year-old Lemro was accused in a fatal hit-and-run in Fairchance, Pennsylvania on Aug. 27. He allegedly struck and killed Paula Silvis, 70, of Fairchance, as she was crossing Morgantown Street near West Church Street.
Lemro was charged with involuntary manslaughter, careless driving, fleeing, reckless driving, and accident involving death and was scheduled for a preliminary hearing Monday at 1:30 p.m.
Lemro fled the scene and was captured by troopers after a brief pursuit on Route 857 near Pringle Lane in Georges Towns
