ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ) - A Roanoke man has been arrested for second-degree murder for a shooting outside a gas station .

28-year-old Marquis Wiley, of Roanoke, has been charged for the death of 30-year-old Trayvon Crowder of Roanoke.

Police responded late the morning of November 9, 2025, to a report of a shooting in the parking lot of a gas station in the 2500 block of Shenandoah Avenue NW. They found Crowder with gunshot wounds; he died at the scene, according to police.

Police say Wiley was then found with gunshot wounds in the 600 block of Milton Street NW. He was taken to a hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

The preliminary investigation determined Wiley shot Crowder and Crowder returned fire, injuring Wiley.
