ANN ARBOR, MI — There’s a new public art installation along the Huron River in Ann Arbor.
Crews worked through the morning Tuesday, Nov. 11, to install “Guardians of the Huron River” at Gallup Park.
The 10-foot-tall sculpture was designed and fabricated by Gavin and Kelley Brodin, the husband-and-wife duo behind the Los Angeles-based studio Formed For.
The piece takes the form of an abstracted egret, long associated with patience, grace and the vitality of waterways, and it rises in a continuous curve, evoking the flowing movement of the river while framing the surrounding landscape, according to a description provided by the city.
“Both delicate and commanding, the work serves as a reminder of the fragile balance between human activity and the ecosystems that sustain life,” it states.
