FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - Over 137,00 pounds of food were raised during Community Harvest Food Bank’s 11th Annual U Can Crush Hunger Food Drive Campaign.
Each year, local colleges compete to collect the most food to support efforts at Community Harvest Food Bank. The drive kicked off on Oct. 23 and wrapped up on Friday, Nov. 8.
A spokesperson for the food bank says 137,335 pounds of food were collected, crushing their initial goal of 125,000 pounds.
Huntington University, Indiana Tech, Indiana University Fort Wayne, Ivy Tech, Manchester University, Purdue University Fort Wayne, Trine University, and the University of Saint Francis participated in this year’s event, collecting the following amounts:
PFW - 43,875 lbs
Indiana Tech - 19,995 lbs
University of Saint Francis - 1
