Only months after the province allowed higher height limits across the city, it still isn’t enough for some London city council members. Free Press reporter Jack Moulton explains how height limits work in practice.
HEIGHT LIMITS BOOSTED
More than a year ago, city council approved a broad plan to raise height limits in different areas of London, primarily in the dense downtown, along bus rapid transit corridors, and in transit villages. Queen’s Park didn’t give its formal approval for the changes until July 25 of this year.
The move was pitched as a way to bring the 2016 London Plan, city hall’s blueprint for growth, more in line with London’s rapidly growing population and the need for more housing.
The changes include:
Downtown: 45-storey limit, up from 35
