OTTAWA COUNTY, Mich. — A 12-year-old girl from Hudsonville was crossing Greenly Street on Wednesday when an SUV struck her.

It happened around 3:15 p.m. in Jamestown Township, according to the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office.

The girl did not see the Ford Explorer traveling westbound on Greenly, deputies said. A 35-year-old woman driving the SUV then struck the child near Jamesfield Drive.

The 12-year-old was seriously injured in the crash, though officials said her injuries were non-life-threatening. Life EMS took the girl to a Grand Rapids hospital.

The driver of the Ford was not injured.

The sheriff's office said the roadway would be closed between 32nd Avenue and Jamesfield Drive until around 5 p.m.
