NOLENSVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - The Nolensville Board of Commissioners has approved the funding for de-escalation and crisis response training for the town’s police department.
According to a release from Nolensville Police Chief Dale Armour, the board of commissioners approved the acceptance of a federal grant for about $217,000.
The grant, which is through the U.S. Department of Justice, funds training in de-escalation practices and the expansion of crisis-response capability for NPD.
Armour said the training will allow NPD to:
Build tailored and Department-specific de-escalation curriculum
Increase training hours without impacting local tax burden
Bring in specialized part-time instructional support to coordinate program activities
Strengthen ethical decision-making and trauma-inform
