UPMC’s outpatient methadone clinic in Wilkinsburg is closing at the end of the month, as the lease for the site has not been renewed.
The Narcotic Addiction Treatment Program, at Western Behavioral Health, serves around 500 residents.
A UPMC spokesperson said via email Wednesday that patients will be redistributed to other methadone clinics in the area. An internal email provided to the Post-Gazette noted that UPMC providers should no longer refer new patients to the clinic.
Western Behavioral Health, 225 Penn Ave., and the landlord were embroiled in monthslong negotiations, after the landlord of the building decided not to renew the clinic’s lease. After failing to find another suitable location, UPMC said the clinic was forced to shutter.
