RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. — A Blythewood father is facing charges after deputies say a Halloween bonfire party spiraled into chaos, leaving three teenagers shot and dozens more running for safety.
Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott says 42-year-old Kyle Johnson helped his 15-year-old son organize the party, which was held on the family’s property along Wilson Boulevard.
“It was supposed to be a Halloween night of fun,” Lott said. “Unfortunately for three teenagers, when they think of Halloween, they're going to think about getting shot.”
Deputies say hundreds of young people attended the party, where there was underage drinking and drug use before the shooting started.
